In this study, blends were prepared by extrusion of recycled polypropylene (rPP) filled with 20% sugarcane bagasse (SCBF) and 20% tire rubber (TR), with average particle sizes of 0.5 mm for SCBF and 1.8 mm for TR. Solid profiles with a square cross section of 25 cm² and a length of 75 cm were produced using an extrusion process with a controlled temperature profile.
The extruded profiles were characterized by tensile testing (ASTM D 638) and morphological analysis by SEM microscopy, evaluating the effect of filler percentage and cutting method (circular saw, band saw, and laser). Results showed that the Shore hardness of unreinforced rPP remained stable despite the extrusion thermal profile, while addition of 20% TR reduced hardness by 5%, and 20% SCBF produced no significant changes.
